Alfie Clamp, a two year old boy has been diagnosed with an extra strand of DNA. His parents did not notice a thing until they first took him home. Alfie stopped breathing and his lips turned blue, he still suffers from several disabilities like fits, digestive problems and he sometimes stops breathing. Every day is precious to the devastated parents. Doctors are still shocked that they diagnosed the extra strand of DNA, when Alfie was barely six weeks old they rand several tests and they found a chromosome with a seventh arm, the doctors told the parents that there was nothing they could do to prevent it. They still have no name for it and they believe that he is the first person in the world having an extra strand of DNA.
There are so many movies nowadays based on cloning, humans and their DNA that we did not expect that it would ever happen. According to doctors Alfie is the first person in the entire world that has an extra strand of DNA, this makes him very special. Although he suffers from several disabilities the parents still love him for who he is. Unfortunately I hear from several people that they do not want a child with a disability or any other handicap, period. I have so much respect for the parents that although Alfie has disabilities they still take care of them and love him. What happens in the future with the extra strand of DNA… we just have to wait and see.
