Emma and her son |
Antiphospholipid syndrome also known as the Hugh syndrome is a disease which causes multiple miscarriages. The carrier of this disease has an immune system disorder that causes sticky blood. Emma Cravitz is one of the woman that has the Hugh syndrome. Because of her sticky blood she has lost 5 children already. The doctors told her that a miscarriage was pretty normal and it happened all the time but they did not prepared her for the fact that she had the Hugh syndrome. The cure is simply aspirin to make the blood thinner. The Hugh Syndrome is often misdiagnosed because of the variety of symptoms.
It must be devastating for a woman to go through five miscarriages when you see other people around you getting pregnant so easily. It breaks my heart when I hear about people giving their child away or simply having an abortion when other people like Emma cannot have children that easily. On the other hand, you can also say that when people cannot have children it is meant to be and it was God’s choice not to do that. However, not being able to have children does not make you a possible bad mother. I am glad that technology is getting better because it can be very convenient for people like Emma.
